A New Freedom

After an anguished meditation on identity, thefreeslave says, “I resign.” One can almost feel him wresting himself free. Definitely worth a read.

Their petty insanity, the narrow soul-lessness and polarization is impossible for them to see, as are its affects: man in conflict with man, woman, child, animal and planet. We are in internalized conflict with ourselves. I want to know a new freedom whether it includes happiness or not; one that doesn’t require a bulletproof vest, or a moat, a Bible or a Big Book, a woman, a servant, a mob or a movement. I’m dropping all of my dogmatism and crutches - just for today, just this second.

   Thanks for posting this — I followed the link and read the whole essay. This person is BRILLIANT.

   Makes me think about the eternal struggle to understand what it means to be a social animal — then a social animal divided into arbitrary groups — then a social animal in uniformly destructive arbitrary groups — and how those things can sometimes push us to embrace individuality, independence, all of the aspects of creatures who are NOT social animals — and how we can possibly live with the contradictions…..

   Amazing we ever get out of bed.
