My Neighbor! (Is a Terrorist)

I just read in the latest issue of Herbivore that Punk Planet Magazine is dead. If you’re not familiar with that magazine, go check it out now. Give them some love (they need money to pay their writers) by picking up the last issue and buying some of the back issues on sale for $1 each. It’s not just about music! Click on the contents for each issue and you’ll see interviews with activists, reports from war zones, and all kinds of useful DIY tips. Of course, there are plenty of band interviews and articles about music too.

Since I’ve been needing to share some punk music anyway (in order not to get kicked out of the Post Punk Kitchen fan club), let me share the old school punk tune that’s been stuck in my head ever since I wrote about Josh Harper and Andy Stepanian a couple of days ago.

From 1978, here is “Terrorist” by the German band known as Pack.

Check out those lyrics! “My neighbor! Doesn’t buy new clothes! …Doesn’t like no prisons! …He’s a terrorist!” Seriously, it’s eerie how relevant this song from Germany in the 1970s (during which real terrorism was used as an excuse for government crackdowns on activism) applies to the United States today.

Speaking of which, I’ve corrected an omission by adding Green Is the New Red to my blogroll. Check it out.

    Dave:

I’ve been loking for that Pack song for ever! We used to listen to that album on cassette (1980) I have no idea where it came from.
